Here’s where things get interesting, and where I’ve seen otherwise well-run facilities take unnecessary risks.
Full 55-gallon drums weigh anywhere from 400 to 800 lbs depending on contents. A forklift can handle that weight easily — but a forklift was engineered to handle palletized loads with a stable, flat center of gravity. A drum is round, tall, and top-heavy.
